Steer Automotive Group announced as new business name for Baldwins Repair Group

Baldwins Repair Group, acquired by Richard Steer in July last year, has announced its name change to Steer Automotive Group with effect from 1st February.

This exciting rebrand reflects the company’s vision to signal a new identity, creating a repairer group of choice for colleagues and customers.

Driven by a measurably different repair experience, Steer Automotive Group has been working through a business transformation strategy over the last 6 months focusing on organic growth in the performance of its existing businesses and in the process it acquired Quicks ASR in October.

In addition, the group announced today (25th January 2019) its latest key acquisition of Prestige Car Refinishing in Northampton. The new business will be the group’s largest repair centre. A 30,000 square feet facility, with 5 paint booths and significant brand approvals strengthens the groups portfolio even further.

Richard Steer commented: ‘I‘m delighted to announce the group’s progress over the last six months and a key acquisition of such a fantastic business as Prestige.

‘Steer Automotive Group also confirmed its plans to open its newly built Brackley facility in March creating approximately 20 new jobs in the area and giving the Steer Automotive Group a fantastic market area coverage across their 8 sites throughout the Midlands and down into Buckinghamshire.’

Richard announced these exciting updates to all of the Steer Automotive Group team at their Inaugural business conference at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire on 25th January 2019.

Baldwins Repair Group’s owner sells business to single-investor

Baldwins Repair Group’s owner sells business to single-investor Steve Warner, owner of Baldwins Repair Group, has announced today that he has sold the business to single-investor, Richard Steer.

Richard brings a wealth of experience, industry knowledge and expertise with him having previously grown and developed successful businesses prior to this purchase. He will join the award-winning accident repairer as owner and Manging Director on 1 August.

Peter Randhawa will continue his role of Group General Manager at Baldwins Repair Group and oversee operations at all repair centres in Aylesbury, Corby, Leicester and Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as the build of the new London site.

During his ownership, Steve developed the business alongside Peter Randhawa. The sites have grown from one to five, manufacturer, insurer and network approvals have increased plus the business has become more involved in key initiatives high on the industry’s agenda, such as apprenticeships and electric vehicles.

Steve Warner said: ‘Following 15 very positive years at Baldwins, I have decided that it is time for me to take a step back and focus on other projects and new challenges. I can see the company’s future going from strength to strength with Richard – he has a great deal of experience and I believe he is the right man for the job. I want to thank the team for all their hard work over the years and I wish them every success for the future.’

Richard Steer said: ‘I am extremely excited about this opportunity. I come in with no pre-conceived ideas as I have worked with Baldwins for many years and I know it is a well organised and successful business. ‘My initial job is to visit the sites, meet the team and see how we, as a Group, can develop the business over time. I look forward to working with the already established team and building on the success of Baldwins Repair Group.

Peter Randhawa said: ‘I am very proud of what has been achieved for Baldwins so far under Steve’s ownership, but there is still much more to come. The future is very exciting for the business and we can only see positives in having Richard on board. During this change of ownership, it is still business as usual at all of our sites.’
