We want Steer to be a place where everyone feels they receive equitable treatment, they feel included, and all benefit from the diversity of experience and thought from those around them. We do this through Steer Everyone, our approach to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Steer Everyone is a holistic approach that makes sure we do all we can to create that diverse and inclusive environment, including:  

  • Having Executive sponsorship for DEI, with Gavin Ruddick our Chief Operating Officer as our senior champion to influence, support and get engagement in our activities
  • Updating our policies and processes to ensure they do not disadvantage any colleagues as well as enhancing terms and conditions to support work life balance and diversity
  • Training managers & colleagues to create an inclusive environment & fulfil responsibilities
  • Raising awareness and celebrating other cultures and differences and encouraging Steer people to learn more about their colleagues
  • Making sure we know and understand our people so we can offer the right environment and support to suit their individual differences, aspirations and needs
  • Raising awareness and supporting mental health

SUPPORT

There is still much for us to do, but actions we have already put in place to support Steer colleagues include: 

  • Mental health support through the Employee Assistance Programme and HR and manager training
  • Access to online CBT training and wellbeing guides
  • Work with and support Ben, the automotive charity to raise awareness of further support and guidance
